Для досягнення учнями результатів в вивченні іноземної мови необхідно врахоаувати їх відношення до даного виду діяльності, стереотипи навчання, які вже склалися (Ellis 1994: 484). Вчитель може і повинен розвивати позитивне ставлення до вивчення іноземної мови.

Завдання 3. You know, there no right or wrong ways of learning – only the one that works for you perfectly. Try different way of learning and choose the most suitable ones for you.

And now work with yoru deskmate and try to find out what kind of learner you are. These question will help you.

a) Do you think you are good at learning languages?

Why or why not?

b) What do you think is the best way to learn a new language? Why?

c) What kind of activities do you think should be included in your course? Why?

There is a recording of foreign students answering the same questions. Listen to the interview and say if you feel the same way as any of the recorded learners and why.

Для слабих учнів доцільно роздати картки з майже цілим текстом відповідей іноземних студентів на запитання а) і b).

Для середніх учнів – картки з опорними словами та виразами.

Перед обговоренням питання с) треба розповісти учням, що вивчення іноземної мови можна умовно поділити на дві частини. Перша – свідоме навчання, друга – підсвідоме в процесі спілкування. Для наочності можна продемонструвати учням таку таблицю:

Також треба пояснити учням цю точність (accuracy) необхідна при вивченні повного матеріалу – граматичного, лексичного і фонетичного. І при навчальних діях, спрямованих на формування точності висловлювання, помилки виправляються в процесі навчальної діяльності (виконання вправ). Швидкість (fluency) важлива для процесу комунікації, і помилки перевіряються після виконання вправ, спрямованих на формування швидкості мовлення.

20 – 31 You are very positive about learning English. Well done!

10 – 20 Not bad! Try to be more positive – it will help you learn better. Remember to be active in class. Don’t be afraid to speak. You can learn from your mistakes.

0 – 10 You feel a bit negative about learning English. Why? Try to find something you like about English, and practise that. You can be good, you just need time and practise.

Завдання 6. Find out what kind of attitude towards studying English you have and report what kind of activities would be useful to you as a learner.

Дані завдання можуть бути запропоновані на першому етапі формування ІС, де учні повинні усвідомити, що вони очикують від даного курсу; що таке процес навчання, і які необхідні дії для ефективного вивчення іноземної мови.
